Staff Biographies
Joseph E. Barrera M.D., F.A.C.E.
Dr. Barrera received his medical degree from the University of California Davis, Davis California in 1987. He completed his Internal Medicine internship and residency training at California Pacific Medical Center, San Francisco, California in 1990. His Fellowship training was completed at the University of California San Francisco Medical Center, San Francisco in 1992.
Dr. Barrera joined the Mission Internal Medical Group in August 2002. He was Board Certified, American Board of Internal Medicine in 1991 and Board Certified in Endocrinology in 1997.
Mim Mulford M.D., F.A.C.E
Dr.
Mulford obtained her bachelor of science
degree from the University of Southern
California, at Los Angeles. She completed
her medical training at Dartmouth Medical
School in New Hampshire. She spent two
years of fellowship training in Endocrinology
and Metabolism at the University of California,
San Diego. She has done research in areas
of diabetes and metabolism related to
weight loss. She was the recipient of
the National Research Science Award from
the National Institute of Health, in 1996.
Dr. Mulford has a keen interest in women's
issues such as osteoporosis, thyroid nodules,
diabetes with new medications, insulin
delivery systems, and hormone replacement
therapy. She is also an elected board
member of the American Association of
Clinical Endocrinologists and Chairman
of the Pharmacy and Therapeutics Committee
at Mission Hospital Regional Medical Center.

Neil Q. Tran M.D.
Dr. Tran graduated Cum Laude with degrees in biology and chemistry from the University of California, Irvine in 1997. After earning a medical degree from the Medical College of Virginia, Dr. Tran completed his residency training in Internal Medicine at Loma Linda University Medical Center. He then completed a fellowship in Endocrinology, Diabetes, and Metabolism at the University of California, Los Angeles and the VA Greater Los Angeles Healthcare System. During his residency and fellowship, Dr. Tran was an active participant in both basic and clinical research in the field of diabetes and thyroid disease. Dr. Tran has interests in various areas of endocrinology, including thyroid cancer and disorders of the pituitary and thyroid glands.

Michael Truong M.D.,
F.A.C.E
Dr.
Truong finished his high school education
in Mathematics and Physics in Paris, France.
In 1981, he received his Summa Cum Laude
undergraduate degree at the University
of California, Los Angeles. He attended
Medical School at the University of California,
San Francisco. In 1988, he completed his
Internal Medicine training at the University
of California, Davis. Subsequently, he
finished his fellowship training in Diabetes,
Endocrinology, and Metabolism. Dr. Truong
spent the next two years at the Aoki Diabetes
Research Institute and was at that time
Assistant Clinical Professor of Medicine
at the University of California, Davis
Medical School.
Since 1992, he has been in practice with
Mission Internal Medical Group. Dr. Truong
is a Certified Clinical Bone Densitometrist
by the International Society for Clinical
Densitometry, and is the Medical Director
of the Osteoporosis Center since 1996.
He is also the Medical Director of the
Mission Internal Medical Group Laboratory.
As an Endocrinologist, he has a deep interest
in Lipid Metabolism and has been the Co-Director
of the Mission Internal Medical group
Lipid Clinic.

Shanna Greminger, NP, MSN, CS, BC-ADM Shanna Greminger attended the University of Southern California for her undergraduate program graduating Magna Cum Laude. At USC she received the USC Chairpersons Award for Overall Excellence and was inducted into Sigma Theta Tau National Honor Society. She received her graduate degree from Georgetown University in Washington, D.C. graduating with honors. While attending Georgetown University she received the Distinguished Service Award and was the recipient of the Grady Memorial Hospital Scholarship. Post graduate she completed a Lipid Disorders Fellowship at the University of California San Francisco Gladstone Institute of Cardiovascular Disease. She previously was a faculty member at the University of Southern California teaching Pathophysiology, Pharmacology, and Nutrition.
She is Board Certified in Family Practice and holds certification in Advanced Diabetes Management. She has a special interest in insulin delivery and continuous glucose sensing systems and holds several certifications in insulin pump management. She has been in practice since 1995 and with MIMG since 2003.
