About Us

Built on the principal of providing our community with quality healthcare.

Formed in 1970 by Gerald Brennock, M.D., a General Internist, Mission Internal Medical Group, Inc. (MIMG) has grown to an over 60 Physician member Internal Medicine Group that now has 10 sub-specialties of Internal Medicine.

MIMG added the specialties of Gastroenterology in 1972; Cardiology in 1977; and Pulmonary in 1982. By 1987 MIMG had grown to (9) Physicians when it merged with the Viejo Niguel Medical Group, a group of (3) General Internists. Additional candidates were soon recruited in Cardiology, Pulmonary, Critical Care and Gastroenterology. An Endocrinologist joined in 1992 and the medical group had grown to (15) Physicians. At this point MIMG went back on the merger trail and joined with four different small groups offering office-based coverage in the communities of Laguna Hills, San Clemente and Mission Viejo. In addition, MIMG added two additional sub-specialties; Allergy and Geriatrics. By 1995 MIMG had grown to (25) Physician covering all of South Orange County.

In addition to physician growth, MIMG had also developed diagnostic services to facilitate the efficient usage of time spent by both patients and physicians within the outpatient setting. This was done with the opening of the Clinical Laboratory in 1993; the Nuclear Medicine Department in 1995; and the Endoscopy Center in 1998; Arthritis & Rheumatology in 2002; Neurology in 2007 and Dermatology in 2008.

As Physician sub-specialties continue to grow, so did the Ancillary Services. MIMG added the Sleep Center in 2005; Vascular Lab in 2007; Vein Center, CT, Histology and Physical Therapy in 2008.

A recent change in healthcare delivery has been the introduction of the Hospitalist. This specialty represents the need to specialize on the unique needs of the patient within the hospital setting. The Hospitalist besides being an experienced Internal Medicine physician also knows the unique internal workings of the hospital environment. This allows him to deliver efficient high quality patient care. In order to cover patient needs, MIMG now has (6) Hospitalist on staff.
